Mishawaka is a city placed in St. Joseph County, Indiana. When of the 2000 census, the city got the number people of 46,557. Its nickname is "the Princess City."

History
Mishawaka is known as for the Shawnee Indian princess Mishawaka, daughter of Chief Elkhart. Legend tells of the romance between her & the whiten trapper known as Deadshot & her abduction by Grey Wolf, the jealous Shawnee. Around 1820, an Indian village named for her lay on the shore of the St. Joe River.

In the 1820s, bog iron deposits were discovered in the area. Many settlement arose to exploit these deposits, including 1 known as St. Joseph Iron Works, in which the blast furnace was built. Around 1833, St. Joseph Iron Works wwhen incorporated by having triplet more settlement as a town of Mishawaka.

Inside 1839, a Kamm & Schellinger Brewery was built, now the 100 Center shopping plaza.

Around 1872, fire ravaged virtually all of Mishawaka’s downtown. While a city was rebuilt, a Dodge Manufacturing Company, Perkins Windmills, & a Mishawaka Woolen & Rubber Company (which afterwards became Uniroyal) set up manufactory. Mint was grown whole as much as Mishawaka & by 1900, a city became called "the peppermint capital of the world."

Inside 1979, University Park Mall opened n of Mishawakthe, beginning a move toward retail business. Inside 1990, AM General began producing the Hummer in its Mishawaka plant.
